Genesis has officially taken the wraps off its new flagship electric SUV, the 2027 Genesis GV90, at a global reveal in San Francisco. Visually, the exterior incorporates minimalist styling cues inspired by porcelain curvature, featuring a clamshell bonnet, signature laser-engraved Two-Line lighting, flush surface-emitting tail lamps, and a rear profile completely devoid of a traditional roof spoiler.

Propulsion is delivered via a high-performance dual-motor AWD layout pairing a 240kW/350Nm front motor with a 250kW/450Nm rear unit, delivering combined outputs of 490kW of power and 800Nm of torque. Traction across varied road surfaces is managed by Dual Electronic Limited-Slip Differentials (E-LSD) mounted across both axles.

The powertrain draws energy from a massive 123.5kWh high-voltage battery pack—the largest battery capacity ever fitted to a Hyundai Motor Group vehicle.

Ride comfort is governed by a multi-chamber air suspension system paired with electronically controlled dual-valve dampers (ECS). To navigate tight urban environments, active rear-wheel steering turns up to five degrees, reducing the turning radius to that of a mid-size SUV.

Neolun Arch Gate: Pillarless Coach Door Engineering

The lineup is divided into two distinct body configurations: the standard GV90 with conventional doors, and the flagship GV90 Neolun featuring the Neolun Arch Gate.

The Neolun variant debuts what Genesis claims are the world’s first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach doors. Utilizing a dual-motion hinge mechanism, the rear doors slide slightly outward before swinging backward 180 degrees, allowing front and rear doors to open facing each other without mutual interference.

To ensure crash integrity without a traditional central pillar, Genesis reinforced the cabin with high-strength dual steel beams and a concealed roll-cage structure built with frames 1.5 times thicker than conventional production vehicles. Occupant safety is further reinforced by 12 airbags, including an industry-first Roof Airbag that deploys across the glass roof in rollover events, as well as seat cushion anti-submarining airbags.

Interior Technology and the Executive Suite

Inside, the GV90 features an expansive 23.6-inch OLED Cinematic Display uniting driver telemetry and navigation, which physically elevates by 90mm when parked to form a 24.6-inch multimedia entertainment hub. Drivers also benefit from a wide 25-inch Head-Up Display (HUD). The cockpit runs the Android-based Pleos Connect operating system integrated with a conversational generative AI agent called Gleo AI.

The cabin eliminates a traditional start button in favour of a foot-brake start sequence, while the signature rotating Crystal Sphere Controller makes a return. Audio is delivered by a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D sound system with Dolby Atmos and acoustic simulation of iconic concert venues.
