The announcement effectively confirms a timeline postponement, as both vehicles had originally been earmarked for Australian releases before the end of 2026.

While marketed under the joint "Omoda Jaecoo" distribution umbrella, the local lineup has leaned heavily on its boxy, off-road-oriented Jaecoo sub-brand (J5, J7, and J8). The introduction of the Omoda 4 and 7 triples Omoda's presence Down Under—slotting beneath the flagship Omoda 9 ($61,990 + ORCs) to inject radical, razor-creased styling into Australia's highest-volume vehicle segments.

However, Chery Group's strategy introduces direct showroom cross-shopping: the Omoda 4 will not only challenge the Hyundai Kona but also Chery's upcoming Jaecoo J5, while the Omoda 7 takes aim at the top-selling Toyota RAV4 while locking horns with the existing Jaecoo J7.
