Mercedes-Benz Australia has officially opened order books for the all-new 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC400 4Matic electric. Joining the existing petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) GLC family, the brand's very first dedicated all-electric mid-size SUV will begin arriving in national showrooms from October 2026.

Furthermore, BMW offers a single-motor rear-wheel-drive iX3 40 ($89,900) that dips beneath the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold to unlock lucrative Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) exemptions for novated leases. While Mercedes-Benz produces lower-tier models globally—namely the 260kW RWD GLC250 (647km WLTP) and the 310kW AWD GLC300 (613km WLTP)—neither has yet been confirmed for local release.

Unlike previous converted models, the electric GLC is built on a purpose-designed electric vehicle architecture, sporting completely different exterior styling from its internal combustion siblings.

Compared to the combustion GLC, the electric variant rides on an 84mm longer wheelbase, unlocking significantly increased passenger headroom and rear legroom.

Luggage utility expands to 570 litres behind the rear seats, growing to 1,740 litres with the second row folded flat. Relocating the electrical architecture also frees up a deep 128-litre front luggage compartment (frunk) under the bonnet for charging cables and small luggage.
