The local lineup will initially consist of two dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variants: the iX4 40 xDrive, priced from $103,900 before on-road costs, and the higher-capacity iX4 50 xDrive, starting at $119,900 before on-roads.

BMW Australia has confirmed the local pricing and specification details for its new iX4 electric SUV coupe, set to launch in the first quarter of 2027. Serving as the sportier, swept-back counterpart to the iX3, the iX4 represents the third model built on the brand's dedicated electric Neue Klasse architecture.

A high-performance flagship, the M60 xDrive, is slated to join the Australian range later in 2027 with M-specific all-wheel-drive tuning and chassis upgrades.

By adopting a lower roofline and a raked rear profile, the iX4 achieves a drag coefficient of 0.23, prioritising aerodynamic efficiency over outright cargo volume.

Powertrain, Charging, and Dimensions

Both launch variants utilise BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology, integrating an 800-volt electrical architecture with newly developed cylindrical battery cells. The new setup promises charging speeds and overall range improvements of approximately 30 per cent compared to previous generations.

The entry-level 40 xDrive generates 275kW and 520Nm from its dual motors, drawing from an 82.6kWh battery to deliver a claimed WLTP range of 638km. The 50 xDrive steps up to 345kW and 645Nm, utilising a larger 108.7kWh battery to reach a claimed 828km range. Despite differing peak DC charge rates—300kW for the 40 xDrive and 400kW for the 50 xDrive—both models can complete a 10 to 80 per cent fast charge in 21 minutes under ideal conditions.
