GWM Australia has officially rolled out a comprehensive mid-life specification upgrade for the 2026 GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV.

In a highly aggressive commercial move, GWM has launched the updated flagship with a drive-away price of $52,990—representing a straight $1000 price reduction compared to the regular pricing of the outgoing model.

The H6 GT PHEV arrives with massive sales momentum in Australia. Since its initial launch, the electrified coupe variants have found immediate market traction, accounting for a dominant 51.5 per cent of total Haval H6 GT sales over the standard petrol models. The Hi4 Drivetrain Overhaul: More Speed, Less Torque

The headline engineering change for the 2026 model year is the synchronization of GWM's Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD) system. The powertrain retains its 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which sees a minor torque increase of 10Nm to a total of 240Nm.

However, the surrounding electric and mechanical hardware has been completely re-engineered:

• New Dual Motors: The old 130kW front and 135kW rear electric motors have been retired. The 2026 Hi4 setup introduces a more rear-biased layout, utilizing a new 80kW front motor paired with a significantly more powerful 170kW rear electric motor.

The old rotary dial gear selector on the console has been eliminated, replaced by a clean, steering-column-mounted electronic gear stalk.
