Measuring over 5.1 metres in length, the G9L lands as the largest model in XPeng's expanding local showroom footprint, slotting beneath the upcoming GX SUV due in 2027.

XPeng has unveiled its flagship three-row large SUV, the 2027 XPeng G9L, ahead of its scheduled local release in Australia. Revealed at the Paris Motor Show, the full-size crossover will offer both pure battery-electric (BEV) and Kunpeng Super Electric range-extended electric (REEV) powertrains, targeting high-end family haulers like the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90.
Customer deliveries in Australia are slated to commence as early as next month, following the local market debuts of the refreshed G6 mid-size SUV, the X9 people mover, and the compact L03 SUV.

Kunpeng Range-Extender vs. Pure EV: Real-World Efficiency
Rather than adopting a traditional plug-in hybrid architecture where the internal combustion engine directly drives the axles, the G9L REEV operates as a pure series-hybrid. The wheels are driven entirely by electric motors producing 430kW of power and 695Nm of torque, completing the 0–100km/h sprint in 5.4 seconds.
A dedicated 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine functions strictly as an onboard generator to recharge the 63kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. This setup yields a claimed WLTP electric-only range of 287km, expanding to a combined cruising range of up to 1,200km when utilizing petrol reserves. For Australian touring conditions, the 287km EV range covers several days of suburban commuting without engine intervention, while the generator alleviates charging anxiety across regional journeys. To address NVH concerns, XPeng incorporates active noise cancellation to limit cabin volume differences between pure electric and generator operation to under 1 dB.
The pure electric G9L BEV variant pairs the same 430kW/695Nm dual-motor output with a larger 110kWh battery, delivering up to 553km of WLTP driving range. Both variants utilize an 800-volt electrical architecture with 5C charging capability, supporting 10 to 80 per cent DC fast charging in approximately 12 minutes under optimal conditions. The BEV variant supports peak DC input speeds of up to 540kW on ultra-rapid chargers.
