2027 GWM Haval H7 Price and Specs: New Hybrid SUV Undercuts Toyota RAV4

GWM Australia has commenced the local rollout of the new-generation 2027 Haval H7 SUV, introducing all-wheel-drive hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains priced to aggressively undercut the dominant Toyota RAV4.

Currently arriving at local dealerships ahead of an official launch on November 2, 2026, the mid-size SUV adopts boxy, off-road-inspired styling. This includes a tailgate-mounted external spare wheel—a design element unseen in the mainstream medium SUV class since the Suzuki Grand Vitara was discontinued in 2019. Despite the rugged aesthetic, the new H7 retains car-like unibody underpinnings shared with the Haval H6.

To stimulate early demand, GWM is offering a $1,000 drive-away launch discount across its entry-level Lux variants until November 30, 2026. The promotional $45,990 drive-away starting price for the Lux HEV positions it beneath the base Toyota RAV4 GX 2WD hybrid, which currently starts at $45,990 before on-road costs.

Powertrain and Technical Specifications

Unlike the outgoing H7 which operated exclusively as a front-wheel-drive hybrid, all-wheel drive (AWD) is now standard across the entire 2027 lineup. Uniquely for a unibody medium SUV, all variants also feature a standard locking rear differential—a segment rarity last seen on the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk in 2021.

The HEV pairs a 110kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with front and rear electric motors and a 1.53kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Combined system output is rated at 182kW and 670Nm, yielding a WLTP-certified combined fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km.

The PHEV variant upgrades to a 33.7kWh ternary lithium battery and pushes peak system output to 320kW and 670Nm. This slashes the 0–100km/h sprint time to 4.9 seconds and provides an electric-only WLTP driving range of 137km. Claimed combined fuel consumption drops to 0.9L/100km, with the total driving range rated at 844km.

(Note: The new H7 measures shorter, yet wider and taller than its predecessor. While launching strictly as a five-seater, GWM has confirmed a seven-seat iteration will follow in 2027.)
