2026 Leapmotor B05 Detailed: New Small EV Hatch Coming to Australia

A new contender is set to enter Australia’s competitive small electric vehicle segment, with the arrival of the all-new Leapmotor B05.

The B05 features a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, with its chassis dynamics tuned in Italy in collaboration with joint-venture partner Stellantis—the automotive giant behind premium marques such as Alfa Romeo and Maserati.

Local Pricing and Promotional Launch Offers

To mark its Australian debut, Leapmotor is launching the B05 with special nationwide drive-away pricing. These introductory rates are valid for all customer vehicles purchased and delivered between July 1 and September 30, 2026:

Powertrains, Charging, and Battery Tiers

The B05 lineup is divided into two distinct tiers based on battery capacity, though both models share an identical high-output rear electric motor. Standard across the range is an integrated efficiency-boosting heat pump and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, delivering a maximum external power output of 3.3kW.

Style (Standard Range)

Equipped with a 56.2kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack routing 160kW of power and 240Nm of torque to the rear wheels. It delivers a claimed WLTP driving range of 401km and completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds. It supports a maximum DC fast-charging rate of 156kW, enabling a 30% to 80% top-up in 16 minutes.

Design LR (Long Range)

Utilizes a larger 67.1kWh LFP battery paired with the same 160kW/240Nm electric motor. Due to altered battery discharge characteristics, the 0-100km/h time drops to 6.7 seconds, while claimed WLTP driving range increases to 482km. It steps up to a higher 174kW maximum DC fast-charging rate, completing the 30% to 80% charge cycle in 18 minutes.

Both models are equipped with an 11kW internal AC three-phase charger for convenient overnight or workplace charging. In terms of footprint, the hatch spans 4430mm in length with a long 2735mm wheelbase, yielding 357 litres of boot space that expands to 1205L with the second row folded flat.
