2027 Range Rover Sport Electric Price and Specs: Electric Flagship Detailed for Australia

Land Rover has officially revealed its inaugural performance electric SUV, confirming the 2027 Range Rover Sport Electric will arrive in Australian showrooms in March 2027.

This positioning makes the Sport Electric nearly $50,000 more expensive than the petrol-powered Dynamic HSE, though it remains significantly cheaper than the full-size Range Rover Electric, which starts at $317,718 before on-road costs. The new model enters an increasingly crowded luxury EV segment, competing against the Porsche Cayenne Electric (from $173,600), Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV (from $136,600), Audi Q8 e-tron (from $140,090), and the upcoming BMW iX5.

Powertrain, Battery, and Charging

Built on the MLA-Flex architecture, the Range Rover Sport Electric is powered by a 118.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with dual 260kW electric motors. This configuration delivers a combined system output of 404kW and 850Nm of torque, directed through an intelligent all-wheel-drive system. With Dynamic Launch Mode engaged, the electric SUV matches the acceleration of the 4.4-litre V8 P530 variant, completing the 0–100km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds.

The 800-volt electrical architecture enables ultra-rapid DC fast-charging at up to 350kW, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in approximately 22 minutes, or adding 220km of range in just 10 minutes. While the official WLTP driving range is quoted at 609km, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) states the vehicle achieves an estimated 535km under real-world driving conditions. Battery efficiency is bolstered by a new 'ThermAssist' thermal management system, which monitors 600 parameters to optimize range and can independently contribute an additional 40km of range by regulating cabin and battery temperatures.

To manage the increased weight of the battery module, the vehicle's chassis is 61 per cent stiffer than current plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, while the centre of gravity has been lowered by 73mm. Standard dynamic hardware across the range includes Dynamic Air Suspension with switchable volume air springs, twin-valve dampers, Electronic Active Roll Control (applying up to 1,400Nm of force across the axles), and an All-Wheel Steering system that turns the rear wheels by up to 7.3 degrees to reduce the turning circle to under 11 metres.
