Offered exclusively in standard-wheelbase (SWB) guise across three familiar trim grades—HSE, Autobiography, and the bespoke SV—pricing starts from $317,718 before on-road costs.

JLR Australia has officially opened order books for the historic 2027 Range Rover Electric. As the British marque’s first-ever pure battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in its 56-year history, customer deliveries are scheduled to commence in Australian showrooms during the first half of 2027.
The Range Rover Electric HSE commands a substantial $32,818 premium over its six-cylinder plug-in hybrid sibling, the P460e HSE ($284,900 + ORCs). However, JLR has strategically aligned the electric flagship's price tag directly against the petrol V8-powered Range Rover P530 HSE ($317,800), positioning the electric powertrain as a zero-emission alternative to traditional eight-cylinder luxury.
Despite tipping the scales at an unladen weight of 2,810kg (roughly 300kg heavier than a petrol V8), the instantaneous torque vectors the luxury behemoth from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. The 80 to 120km/h overtaking benchmark takes just 2.7 seconds, with top speed electronically capped at 200km/h.

118.5kWh Battery: NEDC Claims vs Real-World Touring Reality
Under the floor sits an 118.5kWh usable double-stacked lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack comprising 344 prismatic cells.
JLR officially advertises a driving range of "up to 600km" based on the lenient NEDC test cycle. However, official internal technical documents reveal a more conservative real-world driving range of up to 535km, with standard WLTP testing rating the vehicle between 578km (TEH high energy consumption) and 600km (TEL low energy consumption).
The vehicle's thermal resilience is bolstered by JLR’s new ThermAssist heat pump management system, claimed to save up to 40% of cabin heating energy in extreme sub-zero conditions.

800V Ultra-Fast Charging Speeds
Thanks to a native 800-volt electrical architecture, the Range Rover Electric can take full advantage of Australia's fastest public ultra-rapid chargers:
- 350kW DC Fast-Charging: Replenishes the 118.5kWh pack from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes.
- 10-Minute Top-Up: Injects 220km of WLTP range in just 10 minutes on an 800V 350kW DC stall (or 158km on a standard 400V 250kW charger).
- 22kW AC Three-Phase Charging: The on-board AC inverter accepts up to 22kW, adding 96km of range per hour via a compatible commercial wallbox.

All-Terrain Capability: The 2.5-Tonne Towing Trade-Off
JLR claims the electric variant underwent over 1.5 million kilometres of testing across the frozen lakes of Sweden and the sand dunes of Dubai to ensure uncompromised off-road ability.
- Traction Management: A new Integrated Traction Management (ITM) system processes wheel slip directly at each motor controller within 50 milliseconds—operating up to 100 times quicker than traditional mechanical locking differentials. Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) can continuously vary rear torque from 100 per cent to zero.
- Extreme Slopes & Wading: An off-road-specific Single Pedal mode allows drivers to crawl and pull away smoothly up steep 33-degree inclines (equivalent to a black-diamond ski trail) and tackle rolling ascents of up to 45 degrees. Regenerative braking offers three levels (Coast, Light, Heavy), harvesting up to 0.5g of braking energy. Crucially, the electric powertrain retains the brand's full 900mm wading depth capacity.
- The Towing Compromise: While traditional combustion Range Rovers boast a 3,500kg braked towing capacity, official technical specifications confirm the Range Rover Electric is capped at a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,500kg, with maximum towball download weight restricted to just 75kg. Buyers intending to tow full-sized triple-axle caravans or heavy horse floats will need to factor in this 1,000kg payload penalty.

Cabin Refinement and Digital Twin Diagnostics
Visually, the Range Rover Electric retains the minimalist silhouette of the current fifth-generation model. Distinguishing exterior elements include a flush aerodynamically optimized front grille, tailored aerodynamic underbody shielding, and bespoke EV-specific 22-inch alloy wheels, keeping the drag coefficient down to 0.29 Cd.
Inside, acoustic refinement is elevated by active road noise cancellation, laminated acoustic glass, and near-silent motor operation. Cargo volume remains generous, yielding 925 litres behind the second row and expanding to 2,210 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
The vehicle introduces an advanced Battery Digital Twin system tracking over 900 individual diagnostic parameters. Linked to over-the-air (OTA) cloud software, JLR can proactively monitor cell degradation and pre-emptively service components before faults arise.
