By stepping forward to legally and financially absorb TrueEV’s unfulfilled promotional promises, XPeng ANZ is making an aggressive, capital-heavy move to protect consumer goodwill and re-establish brand credibility.

XPeng ANZ, the factory-backed Australian subsidiary of Chinese intelligent EV manufacturer XPeng Inc., has formally taken 100 per cent direct control of its local operations. Moving swiftly to reassure the market, the company has pledged to directly honour all eligible cashback payments, 10-year warranties, and complimentary servicing packages promised to customers by its ousted former independent distributor, TrueEV.

The announcement follows the official dismissal of TrueEV Distribution’s lawsuit against XPeng in the Federal Court of Australia on Thursday, 20 August 2026. A full trial slated for October was terminated after TrueEV failed to meet a court-imposed deadline to deposit the second tranche of a required $1.26 million security-for-costs order. Receivers had already been appointed to TrueEV's vehicle stock in March following XPeng's initial decision to terminate the five-year exclusivity agreement in favour of a factory-owned subsidiary.

The TrueEV Customer Rescue Plan: How to Claim Your Cashback & Warranty

During its tenure as distributor, TrueEV utilized aggressive sales campaigns to shift stock of the G6 SUV, including promises of $5,000 cashback, extended 10-year warranty cover, and complimentary scheduled servicing contracts.

XPeng ANZ has established a dedicated local support team to review customer documentation case-by-case and honour valid point-of-sale commitments directly from factory coffers:

  • Step 1: Eligible owners must email auscustomercare@xiaopeng.com.
  • Step 2: Provide full customer contact details, the vehicle's 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), original proof of vehicle purchase, and signed documentation or correspondence confirming the promotional commitment made at the point of sale.
  • Step 3: Once verified, XPeng ANZ will directly disburse the cashback payment into the owner's bank account, activate the warranty extension, or log the complimentary service bookings with an authorized service partner.

(Note: Third-party extended mechanical warranty products purchased separately through independent retailers or finance brokers remain governed by those respective third-party underwriters).

Manufacturer Warranty & AASRA Right-to-Repair Expanded

In parallel with individual claim reviews, XPeng ANZ has confirmed its official factory-backed warranty program will be extended retroactively to all eligible XPeng vehicles imported and delivered via TrueEV or its retail network:

Independent Servicing Protections (MVIS & AASRA)

While TrueEV originally relied on a service partnership with Ultra Tune, XPeng ANZ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority (AASRA).

This integrates XPeng into Australia's mandatory Motor Vehicle Information Scheme (MVIS), granting independent mechanics access to OEM repair manuals, diagnostic software, and technical service bulletins. This guarantees Australian XPeng owners open choice in where their vehicle is maintained without voiding factory warranty protections.

Retail Footprint and Product Roadmap

Since commencing direct operations in April 2026, XPeng ANZ has rolled out factory-backed showroom and service locations across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.

The brand's Australian offensive is anchored by the XPeng G6 mid-size electric crossover, which directly challenges the market-dominating Tesla Model Y and Zeekr 7X.

The local lineup will expand significantly over the next 12 months:

  • XPeng X9: Ultra-luxury electric 7-seat people mover (arriving late 2026).
  • XPeng L03: Compact/mid-size electric SUV.
  • XPeng G9L: Flagship large three-row electric SUV.
