Australian customer deliveries are slated to commence in late 2027, following the local launch of the GT 4-Door Coupe in March 2027.

Mercedes-AMG has officially unveiled the 2027 GT SUV, marking the performance division’s first dedicated, standalone all-electric SUV. Built on the purpose-engineered AMG.EA electric platform, the five-seat high-performance SUV follows the GT 4-Door Coupe revealed earlier this year, trading a fraction of aerodynamic efficiency for significantly increased interior space and everyday usability.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed that it will spearhead the local rollout exclusively with the flagship GT63 SUV variant, with entry-level grades to be evaluated at a later date.
The GT63 variant will arrive in Australia as the most powerful SUV ever offered locally, delivering peak outputs of 860kW and 2,000Nm—eclipsing the 850kW Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric in absolute output, although the Porsche remains slightly quicker to 100km/h at 2.5 seconds compared to the AMG’s 2.7-second sprint.

Powertrain Architecture: Axial-Flux Technology and 800V Charging
The AMG GT SUV lineup consists of three distinct electrified drivetrains globally, though all utilize an 800-volt electrical architecture:
- GT53 SUV (Dual-Motor AWD): Features two synchronous motors (one on each axle) paired with a two-speed rear transmission. It provides 270kW of continuous power with peaks of 400kW and 800Nm, completing 0–100km/h in 4.2 seconds. It is paired exclusively with the 106kWh battery, delivering 597km to 668km of WLTP range.
- GT55 SUV (Tri-Motor AWD): Upgrades to three axial-flux electric motors (two rear, one front) with direct oil cooling and silicon-carbide inverters. It maintains 530kW continuous power with peaks of 600kW and 1,860Nm, hitting 100km/h in 3.1 seconds.
- GT63 SUV (Tri-Motor AWD): Utilizes the same three axial-flux motors tuned to deliver 530kW continuous power and peaks of 860kW and 2,000Nm. The front motor acts as a booster unit under heavy acceleration and energy recuperation, while the dual rear motors deliver targeted torque vectoring. It hits 100km/h in 2.7 seconds, reaches 200km/h in 7.2 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 270km/h with the optional Driver's Package.
Buyers of the GT55 and GT63 can select between two battery sizes. The standard 106kWh pack (18 modules) provides 525km to 585km of WLTP range and supports DC fast-charging at up to 600kW, allowing a 10 to 80 per cent charge in 11 minutes. The larger 128kWh pack (22 modules) increases WLTP range to between 620km and 700km and raises peak DC charging to 710kW (10 to 80 per cent in 12 minutes).
(Note: Australian public DC fast-charging infrastructure currently maxes out at 500kW, meaning local owners will initially be limited by external charger capacities rather than the vehicle’s internal thermal architecture.)

Dynamic Hardware and Interior Trim Upgrades
Measuring 5,084mm long and 2,001mm wide, the GT SUV fits dimensionally between the combustion GLE and GLS, but features a low-slung, performance-oriented cabin layout. Luggage capacity is 607L behind the second row (under VDA standards) with an additional 78L frunk under the bonnet.
Chassis and Dynamics Highlights:
- Active Control+ Suspension: Adaptive dampers and active air suspension with hydraulic anti-roll and anti-pitch stabilization (standard on GT63, optional on GT55).
- Braking and Steering: Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the GT63 and optional on the GT55, alongside available rear-wheel steering.
- Race Engineer Controls: Three rotary console dials allowing drivers to calibrate motor response, select through nine traction control thresholds, and adjust Agility Control from neutral cornering to controlled oversteer.
- AMGForce Sport+ Mode: Synthesizes internal-combustion acoustic profiles (simulating a V8 in the GT55/GT63 or a six-cylinder in the GT53), accompanied by simulated stepped gear changes and haptic seat shakers.
Cabin and Styling Appointments:
- 14.0-inch driver-angled central touchscreen paired with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
- Optional 14.0-inch passenger-side display screen.
- AMG Performance front bucket seats with integrated headrests.
- Available Burmester 4D sound system and Manufaktur personalization options, including colored seatbelt accents.
- Exterior styling featuring six turbine-inspired LED tail-lights, matrix LED headlights with three-pointed star signatures, an active self-deploying rear spoiler, and an illuminated gloss-black closed front grille.

Australian Pricing and Availability
Mercedes-Benz Australia will confirm local pricing and final specification lists for the 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT63 SUV closer to its late-2027 market launch.
In Germany, the base GT53 SUV opens at €113,050 (approximately A$183,000 on direct currency conversion before local statutory duties and Luxury Car Tax). When the flagship GT63 arrives in Australian showrooms, it is expected to carry a price tag positioned around the $259,800 (plus on-road costs) benchmark established by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric.
