Chery’s new premium sub-brand, Lepas, has officially entered the Australian market, detailing local pricing and specifications for its debut model: the 2027 Lepas L6 BEV.

Arriving exclusively in a single 'Signature' trim level, the five-seat mid-size electric SUV is priced at $47,990 before on-road costs. Customer order books are now open ahead of initial showroom deliveries in November 2026. As an introductory incentive, Lepas is including premium paint finishes at no additional charge—representing an $800 saving—with a Carbon Crystal Black finish offered exclusively for pre-sale orders.

Market Positioning and Rival Comparisons

At $47,990 before on-roads, the Lepas L6 BEV Signature carries a premium over the segment's established entry-level electric SUVs, sitting above both the BYD Atto 3 Evo and the Geely EX5 (both priced from $41,990 before on-road costs). Instead, it aligns directly with mid-tier electric competitors, perfectly matching the $47,990 before-on-roads sticker of the upcoming Skoda Elroq 60 Select, and sitting close to the MG S5 EV Essence 62 ($47,990 drive-away).

Powertrain, Platform, and Real-World Charging

The L6 BEV is built on the LEXP platform, a dedicated new-energy vehicle architecture developed specifically for the Lepas brand rather than being shared with Chery’s existing Omoda, Jaecoo, or Jetour models.

Power is delivered exclusively to the front wheels via a single electric motor producing 160kW of power and 275Nm of torque. Energy is stored in a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which provides a claimed WLTP driving range of 440km on a single charge. Based on corresponding UK specifications, this powertrain propels the SUV from 0 to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 179km/h.

For public fast charging, the L6 BEV supports a maximum DC input rate of 120kW, allowing the 65kWh battery to replenish from 30 to 80 per cent in approximately 22 minutes.
