The revised eight-variant line-up is available to order now, with the entry-level MX-5 G20 Roadster manual now starting at $44,590 before on-road costs. This represents a $1,950 price hike applied to the majority of the range.

Mazda Australia has detailed a minor update for the 2026 Mazda MX-5, introducing enhanced active safety equipment, a highly requested heritage-inspired green paint option, and higher levels of standard interior trim for flagship variants. However, the upgrades arrive alongside across-the-board price increases for the venerable two-seat sports car.
The track-focused GT RS grades—available in both Roadster and Retractable Fastback (RF) body styles—have incurred a steeper $4,950 increase, justified by the transition of previously optional premium seating and trim into the standard equipment list.

Powertrain and Dimensions
Under the bonnet, the MX-5 remains mechanically unchanged. All 2026 variants are powered exclusively by a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 135kW of power and 205Nm of torque directly to the rear wheels. Buyers continue to have the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Safety Upgrades and Zinc Green Metallic
To rationalize the $1,950 base price increase, Mazda has upgraded the MX-5's active safety suite. The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system, which previously only detected pedestrians, has been updated to include cyclist detection. Furthermore, the Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) is now fitted as standard equipment across the entire range.
Visually, the most notable addition is the introduction of 'Zinc Green Metallic'. Marking the first time in a decade that a green exterior hue has been offered on a Mazda in Australia, the colour carries a $595 premium. It joins the existing $595 premium options (Machine Grey Metallic and Soul Red Crystal), while Jet Black Mica, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Aero Grey Metallic, and Deep Crystal Blue Mica remain available at no extra cost.

MX-5 G20 (Standard Equipment Updates):
- Upgraded Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Lane-keep Assist System (LAS)
MX-5 G20 GT RS (Adds over standard GT):
- Lightweight RECARO bucket seats trimmed in Nappa leather and genuine Alcantara, finished with light grey contrast stitching
- Genuine Alcantara interior trim applied across the instrument panel, centre console, console lid, and door trims
(Note: The Alcantara and Recaro interior setup was last offered in Australia on the limited-run 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition.)
