2027 Tesla Model 3 RWD Price and Specs: Australia's Cheapest Electric Sedan from $45,900

Tesla has introduced a new entry-level variant of the Model 3 sedan in Australia, dropping the cost of entry by $9,000 to become the most affordable Tesla ever offered locally. Priced from $45,900 before on-road costs, the 2027 Tesla Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) undercuts its closest electric rivals, including the BYD Seal Premium ($52,990 plus ORCs), Kia EV4 Air ($49,990 plus ORCs), and Mazda 6e ($49,990 plus ORCs), while aligning closely with the mid-spec Toyota Camry Ascent Sport hybrid ($42,990 plus ORCs).

Customer orders are open now, with initial Australian deliveries scheduled between mid-to-late October 2026 and the end of the year.

Powertrain, Battery, and Efficiency Gains

Despite the significant price reduction, the new Model 3 RWD retains the same core powertrain hardware as the Premium RWD. Power is delivered by a single 208kW rear electric motor paired with a 62.5kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

However, the base model introduces a notable range advantage. By utilizing restyled 18-inch 'Prismata' alloy wheels wrapped in new low-rolling-resistance Giti tyres, the WLTP-certified driving range increases by 52km to a claimed 572km. The 0–100km/h acceleration time sees a marginal increase from 6.1 seconds in the Premium down to 6.2 seconds in the base RWD. The flagship Performance variant's range also rises to 600km on the WLTP cycle for the MY27 update.

Across the entire MY27 Model 3 range, Tesla has also introduced 'Powershare' vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, allowing owners to power external devices and small appliances from the car's battery. This functionality requires the purchase of an optional Tesla Outlet Adapter.
